Michael J Fox and Helen Slater in “The Secret to My Success”

The very witty yet somewhat true to life American Comedy “The Secret to My Success” starred Michael J Fox and Helen Slater.  First aired on our television screens in 1987 this hilarious take on cooperate shenanigans, back-handers and espionage keep the delighted audience laughing all the way through to the end.  The main character (Fox) Brantley Foster moves from Kansas to New York City to take up a prestigious position at a financial company there.  He is distraught to learn his new Company has been taken over by a cutthroat rival and his new job has been axed!  If only the original Financial Firm had invested in some IFA software they would have prevailed and Brantley wouldn’t have ended up taking a lowly mail room position at a company where his Uncle Howard is the Director!

Brantley takes on the fake persona of whiz-kid, financial advisor “Carlton Whitfield” to convince his colleagues at his Uncle’s firm that he is a smart new executive working there.  After falling in love with Christy Wills played by Helen Slater, he is seduced by his Uncle’s wife, Vera the Bosses daughter!  Uncle Howard is having an affair with Christy and asks her to spy on Carlton, Christy falls in love with him and they all end up at a party together where the sordid truth comes out.

Vera realises that she is better off without Howard, takes control of the Company and hires Brantley and Christy to help her.
