Common Problems that Can Happen to Your Car

Many of us rely on our cars for both work and pleasure, so when something goes wrong with them it can feel disastrous! Keeping your car well looked after, and having the annual MOT done at a reputable garage like MOT Gloucester based company Swift Fit are both good ways to ensure that your car stays in good working order, but sometimes things will inevitably go wrong with cars, as with any machinery. Here are some of the most common car problems…

A Flat Tyre – Flat tyres are just one of those unavoidable problems that happen from time to time. You can limit the risk of flat tyres by trying to evade driving over broken glass or debris, but it is not always possible to look out for every potential risk. Always make sure that you have a spare tyre on board and how to change it in case you do get a puncture.

A Dead Battery – This is something else that you need to be prepared for. Make sure that you always carry a set of jump leads in your car in case your battery does go flat. If your battery is about to die, sometimes you will notice that the engine might struggle to start, or the headlights are dimmer than they should be.

A Burned-out Clutch – Older cars that have done a lot of miles are at most risk of this – there are tell-tale signs that your clutch is about to go in the near future that you can look out for such as difficulty changing the gears and less power in the car. If you suspect that your clutch may be on its last legs it is important to get it to a garage as soon as possible.
