How does double glazing work?

In Britain the majority of houses have double glazing fitted as standard. For the most part people want to have double glazing as it brings so many benefits to the home. It makes homes warmer in the winter and helps keep out UV rays and the heat in the summer. It looks clean and it is easy to keep clean as well. Who does the simple inclusion of glass make such a difference to the home? One of the best companies of Tewkesbury Double Glazing is that of Firmfix. They can soon get you home kitted out in decent windows and patio doors. It will save and packet and it won’t cost you one in the first place.

The concept of double glazing is very simple. The clue to what it is in the title. Simply put, double glazing is a single pane of glass with a second fitted behind it. However this second pane of glass is not exactly against the first piece. It is not actually “flush” against the primary glass. There is actually a small gap in between the two pieces of glass.

This gap in between the panes is wrongly thought of as being a vacuum. This is not the case. It is in fact air that is sealed in a low pressure. This air is “dried” so that a large degree of the moisture is removed. This air slows down the rate of convection coming into and out of the house meaning that heat takes longer to escape.
