How To Get The Best From Your Structural Oak Beams

Structural Oak beams, like the ones from Timberpride not only have an aesthetically pleasing look but they are incredibly durable as well. Although they cost more than other types of lumber they are actually much stronger than green oak (which by the way is the cheapest type of wood available) and therefore they can carry more weight. Another advantage they have over green oak is that they don’t change in color with time unlike green oak which will fade slightly in the left and right hand corner as the tree matures.

It is always recommended to use structural beams as part of your interior design when dealing with heavy beams such as walls or corners. Not only do you get stronger beams, you also increase the overall look of your room because you can now choose to either stain the wood or paint it in order to match the interior of your room. If you are going to stain the wood, then you will need to sand the wood down before you start with the painting process because if you don’t then you will find that some of the details will not come out properly because the sanding process will remove too much of the bark of the wood.
