Weddings that made world records – You must read

Most of us just want to get hitched without a hitch, but for some, their weddings make it into the Guinness Book of World Records. Here are some record setting nuptials that went the extra mile:

World’s most expensive wedding dress – This was created in 2006 for Luxury Brand’s Lifestyle Bridal Show held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in California. The gown cost a whopping $12 million and was dotted with 150 carat diamonds!

Most flower girls at a wedding – Charlene and Leon Watts tied the knot in Japan in April 2017 with an entourage of 253 flower girls. The pair from Australia wanted to stage this event in Hita following an earthquake that affected the town a year earlier.

Most weddings in one city – This title has to go to Las Vegas, notorious for its wedding chapels. Most pearls on a wedding gown – In February 2012, Yumi Katsura of Japan presented this gown as part of a collection. All the pearls used were genuine Akoya pearls and there were 13,262 of them!

Most wedding guests – India in September 1995 was the scene for the world record setting highest number of guests at a wedding. More than 150,000 watched the nuptials of two people related to famous Indian movie stars. Wonder if they all got a slice of cake?

Biggest wedding cake – Made by chefs at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut for a bridal show, this humongous cake weighed 6.8 tonnes!
