How schools can help children move more

Did you know that children should be exercising for at least one hour every day? It’s not too difficult, surely? However, many children do not get this kind of moderate or vigorous exercise every day. In many parts of the country, PE classes are being reduced. How can schools increase physical activity in students?

It’s time teachers got creative and introduced movement into their lessons. Many schools dedicate only one hour per week to physical education. Physical exercise is a must because it not only helps with weight issues but also improves cognitive abilities, circulation, concentration, and can help students perform better in school. Incorporating physical activity into the normal classroom time will enhance learning, make it more fun and interactive and help to link academic achievement with physical fitness.

Kids Take Charge

If you let the students decide on an idea, it’s more likely that they’ll engage with it. Allow the children to decide on how they will move more in the classroom (only sensible suggestions). You can give your children some autonomy by explaining the importance of exercise for their health and wellbeing. You will be amazed at their enthusiasm and great ideas.
