Follow in the Footprints of others and walk the Giant’s Causeway in County Antrim Ireland.

There are approximately 40,000 hexagon-shaped columns made of basalt that haphazardly spill out from the coastline of County Antrim in the very far north of Ireland. One explanation for how they evolved is that over 60million years ago, seismic and volcanic activity caused molten basalt to force its way through fissures in the chalk seabed to subsequently create a lava plateau above. When the boiling basalt cooled and cracked it created the Columns that now lead like Giant stepping stones across the land and into the sea.

When in Ireland and attempting to stride across the phenomenal, natural causeway of Giant stone steps you will want to look the part and what better way than to proudly sport an  irish mens sweater from a local company such as https://www.shamrockgift.com/aran-sweaters/mens-aran-sweaters/.  The second explanation for the Giant’s Causeway is that the Giant Finn MacCool challenged his equally giant neighbour Benandonner, (who lived in Fingal’s Cave) to a fight. Finn built the causeway as a quick route to his rival’s home.

Benandonner was twice the size of his opponent, so Finn ran back to his wife Oonagh.  When the bigger giant arrived to take up the challenge, Oonagh had thrown a blanket over her husband pretending he was her baby. Benandonner on seeing the baby thought he would stand no chance with its dad so ran back to his cave, since 1986 the Giant’s Causeway has been the only place in Northern Ireland to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
