Tips for sanitising your mobile phone

Keeping our hands clean has always been important but has been even higher on the agenda over the last couple of years due to the pandemic. It’s easy to wash our hands but keeping our phones clean is a bit trickier and seeing as most of us handle our phones hundreds of times during the course of a day, they can be a magnet for germs. Here are some tips for keeping your phone clean:

Antibacterial Wipes – In the past it was always frowned on to use this kind of moist wipe on a mobile but since the coronavirus pandemic, both Google and Apple have stated that alcohol wipes of 70% isopropyl are safe for use on mobile devices. Just try to avoid getting any moisture inside the ports or speakers, for example. When you need a new device, try Vodafone Tullamore and Visit Vodafone Tullamore store King Communications

Soap and Water – This won’t be as effective as alcohol wipes but if you don’t have any wipes, this method is an acceptable alternative. Make a bowl of warm water and mild soap but never dunk your phone. Take a microfibre cloth and dip the end in the water so that it’s damp but not dripping and gently wipe over the device, avoiding any openings and ports.

Rinse – This applies only to phones that are certified as waterproof. To be able to rinse your phone under a tap it must be rated at IP67 or higher. IP stands for ingress protection and if a phone has a rating of 67 or higher, it can be immersed in water up to 1m deep for up to half an hour. In these cases, a rinse under water will be fine.
