How to care for your engineered wood flooring

Engineered Wood Flooring is an incredibly popular flooring choice for those who are looking to update their interior decor. It is perfect for families and individuals alike and can be found in a variety of colours and shades so it can suit any interior design style personality. Once you have had your flooring installed you will want to know how you can clean and maintain it to keep it looking great for years to come.

Wood flooring is best cleaned in a dry method rather than using water. This is because water can affect your flooring. If you choose to wet your floor you should do this with as little water as possible. Mop up any spillages as soon as you can and if you see any staining on your floor you should remove this as quickly as possible to help prevent permanent staining or marks from occurring.

There are other ways in which you can protect your flooring for damage and stains and these include:

  • Sweeping your floor before you use a mop or vacuum to help pick up any pieces of grit or gravel that may have been brought into your home. This can help to prevent the debris from being pushed across your flooring where it can lead to small scratches appearing.
  • Place protective pads on the feet of your furniture items to stop them scratching the floor underneath or leaving intentions in the wood. This is particularly important for chairs that are pulled out to be sat on, on a daily basis.
  • Use a doormat by your doors to help trap and dirt and debris before it can be brought into your home.
